The $1,399 Aventon Soltera.2 is the latest version of Aventon’s beautiful city bike that offers some of the best quality fabrication that I’ve seen in this price range – or even in higher price ranges. The $1,399 Lectric XPedition has turned the electric cargo bike market upside down, finally bringing a heavy-hitting cargo e-bike to market for an ultra-affordable price. The Lectric ONE is listed in the “Best under $2,000” category, but in many ways, it’s the best in under a significantly higher dollar value.
After three weeks, I took it out for the first time on a familiar route to try to ride it up and down some sets of stairs or to drop off street furniture to get a feel for it before taking it out on trails. Looking at buying a $600 mech, I love the idea that individual parts of the mech can be replaced if they get damaged, that it will run with almost any shifter, and that I can swap the cage out to run short or long so it can be used on more or less any bike. The shifting itself is nothing to write home about, but it works well every time. You can drop half a cassette at once or make single shifts with the expected precision, and it works, but not as nicely as SRAM electronic shifting. I have never NEEDED anything to work as nicely as SRAM electronic shifting in horrible conditions. Modern geometry tailored for aggressive riding lets the Firebird rail at warp speed with battleship stability and laser precision.
