And finally, the biggest con is probably that the quality isn’t the best with the slightly sticky tent fabric, loose threads, snagging issues and inconsistent mesh. It also has a nice high peak height of 88 inches, plus its side walls are vertical, so it offers a lot of livable space. For pros, the Ozark Trail 10-Person Cabin Tent is very, very inexpensive, and is by far my least expensive tent for the size.

So I have decided to show this tent side by side with two other 12-person tents that are also summer camping tents but cabin-style. This might give you some idea of the advantages and disadvantages of the two different styles. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, this is the largest dome-style tent currently available on the market. So I have added it to my list of extra large family camping tents.
Living in the south, spending time outside is practically second nature. Between barbecues, crawfish boils, and annual family reunions, the great outdoors sort of feels like my second home. When it comes to hot weather, Ozark Trail does not fail with ventilation. Note also that this is an incredibly tall tent with 92 inches (234 cm) peak height. I didn’t pay much for this tent (just slightly over $100), and I don’t think there’s any other brand apart from Ozark Trail that you can buy a 10-person tent for this price. The 3 roof poles are made of fiberglass, which are a bit more flexible. I wouldn’t recommend putting this 10-person tent up on your own though, because it’s quite difficult to get the roof to prop up by yourself.
With that being said, there are a few things you’ll want to know going into your purchase. First, all Ozark Trail tents should be considered “fair-weather” shelters. That doesn’t mean they all leak when it rains or collapse when it’s windy, but they simply aren’t built for bad weather.
Pros Includes compression straps on the sides to keep your gear stable. By the time we got back from camping the next weekend three out of four sleeping bags had the zippers broken. However, as with many budget tents, they are unlikely to perform well in really bad weather and they are not as durable as many higher-performance tents. If you’re looking to go on a proper camping trip…while there are definitely loads of very satisfied customers, I’d suggest you might be taking a risk. All of the Dome tents are fitted with an e-port that enables you to hook up electrical devices effortlessly.
The carry bag seems to be of okay quality, and it can be made bigger for easier packing up. It wasn’t too difficult to get the tent, poles and all other accessories back into the carry bag. The zippers worked fine for the windows, but kept snagging on the door because of this rain cover. My other tents with similar designs did not have this serious of a snagging problem. The single door measures about 54 by 39 inches in dimensions, although it’s about 62 inches from the floor to the top of the door.
Each tent provides optimal ventilation, so they also make excellent summer options. As with all budget tents, you’ll find Ozark Trail tents are heavier, more cumbersome and generally less durable than more expensive options. Which means that if you’re planning to camp once or twice a year in fair weather, they could be a great choice for you.
I had a bit of anxiety about the trip, hoping that we would pack enough to be comfortable but not so much that it would weigh us down. We also carried a bit of extra anxiety not knowing the terrain where we would be sleeping for the night. To accommodate 10 people in this tent, it’s almost shoulder-to-shoulder sleeping, although ozark trail canopy there’s some space down the middle for just a tiny bit of camping gear. Ease of setup (how easy it is to pitch and take down a tent) is pretty much always a high mark for Ozark Trail tents. These tents are built for first-time and/or fairweather campers, so Ozark Trail puts a lot of effort into making them easy to use.
