When the battery is fully charged, the usage gauge on the display shows five bars. But then, this Schwinn is not intended for touring or racing. But it’s a great go-to steed for commuting, errand running, recreational riding, hauling a kid in a child seat and other general purposes. And it can still perform when needed for more demanding travel. I have a Cheetah fat tire mountain ebike and it works like a champ however, a question that I can’t get answered by ecotric nor any replies on my inquiries. I ordered a 500w and maybe that only explains the motor output but, I received a 450w 12.5 v battery.

Most use lithium-ion battery technology, which is still pricey, and including it could mean cutting corners elsewhere if the overall price is that low. At $1,399, the Aventon Pace 350 gets close, but our test revealed it’s not too cheap to be high quality. The Class 2 e-bike tops the assistance out at 20 mph, whether you get there by pedal-assist or a throttle. The motor assist on this bike is purely pedal assist, though it’s more fair to call it “pedals are moving, motor is on” – since that what it seems to be. Start pedaling, and the motor will chime in at some power, mostly dependent on what you’ve set on the handlebar control. It pretty much does that until you stop pedaling or hit a brake lever.

At the very least, we always want to know what our readers are riding. The BULLS Alpine Hawk really captured the feel of a true road bike – so much so that we often forgot it was an e-bike. The 33.5 lb weight is a tad high for a performance road bike, but it’s a featherweight compared to most e-bikes. So with a small amount of assist, delivered beautifully from the Fazua motor I might add, you actually see modest speed mongoose bmx increases that offset the weight of the bike and then some. Nearly all of the bike is made of carbon fiber, including the super sexy one-piece spoked carbon wheels and the entirety of the sleek-looking folding frame. The bike almost has a minimalist design with smooth curves and few obvious frills, but beneath that carbon facade is one of the most feature-rich and smartly-integrated e-bikes we’ve ever tested.

I’m talking Twin Peaks in San Francisco and riding the rim of Lake Tahoe. It has a nice twist throttle to make starts easy and variable power settings so it isn’t always all power all the time. On flat terrain it isn’t necessary to use power as it has a 7 speed Shimano. The regular price is amazing but when it’s on sale it’s outrageous that I got all this for less than $1000! But there’re downsides to all e-bikes, whether it’s cost prohibitive or the tires are hard to replace. It’s “downsides”, if you’re an avid off-roader, is that it isn’t designed for challenging off-road rides.

I also have an Ecotric Beach and Snow e-bike which I purchased years ago before there was the Seagull. It has been great but it isn’t the best for the steep hills of San Francisco. Especially, now that I’m over 65, the extra boost from the Seagull’s 1000 Watt motor makes it fun to ride again.

I’m not about to pedal around in the lightest pedal assist setting all day, especially since this isn’t a high power e-bike to begin with. So if you’re using liberal throttle, keep in mind that you’re going to wind schwinn electric bike up with limited range. Ride up to 20 MPH with the 250-watt brushless geared hub drive pedal assist motor that gives you a boost while you pedal. Choose from several levels of assistance or use the throttle instead.
