The 24-inch Cruiser is ideal for the younger rider who appreciates the time-honored qualities of riding comfort. Cruisers are popular among casual bicyclists and vacationers because they are very stable and easy to ride, but their heavy weight and balloon tires tend to make them rather slow. Pello also uses safe, Woom-like recessed Allen bolts at the front fork. We love the sealed, mudproof front hub and the lightweight but very tough 20-spoke alloy rims. (Most bikes we tested feature 28 or even 32 spokes. Only the Woom 3 had a lower count at 16.) The fewer spokes, the lighter the wheel and the easier it is to pick up and ride.
Bicycle stores and repair shops often carry used or vintage bikes, and they may have some beautiful Schwinn models available. Additionally, you can find vintage Schwinn bikes at garage sales, estate sales, antique shops, and flea schwinn dealers markets. For more than a century, the name Schwinn has represented a leader in the bicycle industry. The company began in 1895 when partners Ignaz Schwinn and Adolph Arnold founded their corporation Arnold, Schwinn & Company.
The Pello’s feathery but tough alloy fork bolts to the frame via a rugged headset manufactured by Cane Creek, a venerable name in the mountain biking world. We really dug the Pello’s 0.75-inch-diameter BMX-style handlebars. They enabled a more Woom-like beginner-friendly upright posture than other first off-road pedal bikes we tested while still enabling aggressive hammering. If your child is 4 to 6 years old and you’re considering getting a first pedal bike, this guide is for you.
This beautiful little mountain bike features a really strong but still lightweight steel frame (the whole bike weighs 16.6 pounds), powerful linear-pull brakes, and a marginally lower price than the Prevelo or Woom. Our testers found schwinn ebike it a fast and very maneuverable trail rig, but as with the Prevelo, its low-rise bars and geometry make it too aggressive for most beginners. There’s plenty to love about the Pello Revo 16″ from the moment the box reaches your house.
This is 2 inches higher than the comparably set up and equipped Trek Precaliber, meaning kids with an inseam shorter than 21 inches will have a tough time on this bike—if that’s the case, consider the Trek. Aside from its pedals, which you have to screw onto the cranks, the REV 16 comes completely assembled and ready to ride. Like many higher-end kids bikes, the Rev 16’s shape is unisex; it’s available in green, blue, and pink. The Schwinn Twinn Classic Tandem adult beach cruiser bike is one of Schwinn’s top-selling models, with hundreds of positive reviews online.
