Igloo Trailmate Journey 70 qt All-Terrain Cooler

Head out to your favorite picnic spot with your meal packed in the Igloo Trailmate™ Journey 70 qt. A built-in stand on the lid provides space to store your mobile device. Igloo Trailmate Journey 70 Cooler – Gray/Black – With Trailmate, nothing gets in fun’s way. Igloo built an up-for-anything cooler so it’ll roll right over rough terrain like it’s on a paved path.

When traversing grassy fields to beach dunes or dirt roads to wooded trails-wherever your heart desires, the igloo soft cooler will get there with ease and be the life of the part day or night. Headed to the beach, a picnic, fishing or a camping trip, the Trailmate wheeled cooler from Igloo has you covered. Igloo Coolers have always been known for their attractive price points. While they typically won’t have the level of performance of higher ends brands like Yeti, RTIC, Orca, etc., they have always struck a happy balance between cost and usability. So more realistically, aim for around 2 ½ to 3 days of ice if you fill it up 1/3 to ½ way. Since there is only one size to work with (70 quarts), we decided to vary how much ice we put inside.

The Liddup comes in a gray/red combo and the Marine comes in white (similar to all of Igloo’s other marine-inspired products). The combination of the aggressive wheels and the rigid exposed metal makes for a very tough and intimidating look. And the layout of this cooler is unique and is sure to stand out from the crowd. We’ve discussed many of the Igloo Trailmate’s features related to convenience and usability.

The Igloo Trailmate 70 is the best rolling cooler for the money we have tested to date. This is a pretty bold statement considering we have reviewed a ton of wheeled coolers in the past. However, this claim is easily defended considering the superior ice retention and the included features/accessories. Our rugged Trailmate cooler has oversized, all-terrain wheels and a sturdy telescoping handle, so you can easily and smoothly roll it to your destination. You can easily take the Trailmate anywhere thanks to the telescoping lever that halves the towing weight.

For example, the Yeti 75 is nearly $200 more expensive and does not have wheels nor the added features as outlined above. It goes without saying that the Trailmate is the perfect beach, tailgating or surf fishing cooler capable of handling rugged terrain at a reasonable price. The Igloo Trailmate, due to its many additional features, large size, and decent ice life, does fetch a higher asking price than most other Igloo products. But for someone who is after a truly unique, mobile, and well-performing ice chest, the asking price is more than fair.

At the front, the Trailmate has two more storage compartments, one of which is a waterproof storage compartment for your phone or wallet, for example. The lid contains four cup holders and a stand for your phone or tablet. In the cooler there is a basket to keep things cold that should not get wet. With the included tray, you turn the pull-up bar into an additional workspace. At the bottom you will find two more holders for a beach umbrella or fishing rods.

They include a lack of rotomolded insulation, a lack of thick rubber gasket, and lack of a more advanced latch system that creates a tighter seal. Igloo states that their Trailmate Line has up to 4 days of ice retention. Compared to premium rotomolded coolers with huge gaskets and aggressive latches, 4 days would not be anything amazing. For most people, having enough ice to last for a long weekend is more than enough. To help with body toughness and ice life, Igloo has installed a thick layer of Ultratherm insulation in addition to its patented Cool Riser Technology.

On the front of the cooler, Igloo advertises up to 4 days of ice retention. In our testing, the Trailmate crushed these numbers with 8 days of ice retention. Every day during our test, the lid temperature of the Trailmate was 100°+. To be fair, the cooler was filled to capacity igloo soft cooler with ice, as we do with all of our ice retention tests. However, 4 days should be easily attained with a decent amount of ice used. Trailmate…the up-for-anything hardside and softside coolers — all high performing, easy to transport and crafted for the great outdoors.
