Genesis Bicycles

Cornering is quick and precise with rear wheel drift easily attainable. Genesis are a British brand that have been building decent bikes and a decent reputation so I was looking forward to a chance to see if the positive buzz about the company and their bikes was well earned. Our bikes will take you to those places, fulfill your curiosities and make you remember why going for a ride is one of life’s most brilliant experiences.

Inspired by Vin Cox’s adventures, we introduce the Day One Alfine – the ultimate drop bar cycle tourer. One year on Vin Cox set off from The Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. Some 163 days and 18,000 miles later, he returned a world record breaker. Capable on and off road, it was a gentle step away from our original Vapour and towards a bike that was intended to go further… but we never imagined quite how much further.

When full, these same concentric rings park bikes safely and securely. The Genesis™ offers two contact points, at front and rear, for locking. The unique concentric design of the Genesis™ bike rack helps guide bikes into proper parking position while providing double the parking space of typical serpentine racks. They include five genesis bike flat bar ‘Day One’ models, the singlespeed drop bar Flyer and seven hardtail mountain bikes. Sitting somewhere in the middle was the Vapour – a cyclo-cross bike that would occupy our thoughts around bikes that can go further… There are, however, a number of points that make this a more versatile bike than the carbon alternative.

Prefitted mudguards and more puncture resistant city tyres are such examples. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here. Some practically remains, with downtube bottle bosses (useful for holding extra water or a tool keg) and discrete mudguard mounts.

The frameset is incredible versatile and lends itself to a multitude of different builds. You could put 38c tyres on it and go bike-packing on some gravel, or you could put genesis bicycles front and rear pannier racks on, throw in some mudguards, and take it on an around the world tour. You could even commute, go on road rides, use it as a utility shopper.

Using high-quality replacement parts ensures your Genesis bike performs at its best and increases the bike’s lifespan. Whether it’s a new set of tires or a replacement chain, investing in quality parts will pay off in the long run. Remember, irrespective of the model you choose, getting your Genesis bike assembled by a professional service like National Assemblers ensures optimal performance and safety. The Montane Icemen (Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove) underlined the bikes capabilities as they used a pair of Croix de Fers to circumnavigate the 1600-mile coastline of Iceland in 14 days. Genesis bikes became renowned for their use of steel tubing and ethos for function over form. A fatbike (also called fat bike, fat tire, fat-tire bike, or snow bike) is an off-road bicycle with oversized tires, typically 3.8 in (97 mm) or larger and rims 2.16 in (55 mm) or wider.
