Weber Traveler Mini 1 Burner Liquid Propane Grill

Even if you clean the grill thoroughly afar each use I would still recommend the Cargo Protector cover. We had to travel about 50 yards in the unkempt grass to reach where we wanted to settle in and the huge plastic wheels made pulling the grill effortless. As we’ve come to expect from Weber, The Traveler is a very intentionally built grill that checks all the boxes in terms of quality. Every item was packaged and protected well inside the main vessel of the grill.

Controlling the temperature — while not perfectly precise — was no real issue for me and shouldn’t be a hindrance for the type of grilling most people do. While it’s billed as a portable model, the Traveler is large enough to be your permanent, everyday home grill. The Traveler is not much easier or more difficult to clean than your standard gas grill. There’s a drip tray to catch the worst of it and you can easily remove the grill grates to clean the inside of the firebox or hull of the grill.

We have retail stores concentrated throughout California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas, where the sun shines often and outdoor living is a year-round indulgence. Those items included the main body of the grill, 2 cooking racks, 2 wheels with installation weber traveler hardware, and a grease pan with an aluminum liner. It’s portable in the sense that it’s easy to move from one semi-permanent location to another but, at that weight, it’s not the right grill for a beach day or to take on a wander in the woods.

The grill has an attractive black and chrome design, and setting it up is easy – simply press your foot on the pedal at the base and pull the handle up and out. There are hooks for utensils and a side table on the right. Unhook the red clip, push the handle in, and it slowly folds down to the floor, almost in slow motion. It is very classy, and there is no risk of catching your finger or squashing a wandering pet as it folds down.

At 1,300 BTUs, the Weber has a good punch of power for a portable grill so I expected some serious heat. The internal temp quickly rose to just about 500 degrees F with the lid closed but didn’t exceed that temp. Worth noting that 500 is a good mark to hit for high-heat grilling — things like steaks, burgers and in my case, tuna. The tuna steaks and sausages I plunked down on the grill grates got a nice sear with pretty grill marks in about 10 minutes (five on each side). The 49-pound weber traveler is a large, heavy-weight standing grill, which makes it difficult to compete against the more petite grills in our lineup. However, the designers at Weber truly put a lot of thought into the ease of transport by including a mechanism that allows for a slow lowering into a compact position.

However, most reviews were positive, with one even stating that the grill was one of the best they had ever owned. The only downside is that the small gas bottle has to be unhooked before folding the grill up. This means it’s another thing to carry if you are trekking some way into a national park or similar. Where the gas bottle screws onto the grill is on the underneath of the top, and you need to be careful not to cross-thread it.

Any other grease is distributed into the bottom of the oval-shaped grill body and is easily wiped clean thanks to a smooth, powder-coated finish. The large cooking area and luxurious, high-quality cast iron grate make this grill a joy to cook on. The puts out 13,000 BTUs per hour, offering consistent temperatures throughout the entire cooking surface. It heats up relatively quickly, achieving maximum temperatures in minutes, on average. We love that the grill features an accurate thermometer on the lid, so it’s easy to know the internal temperature of the grill without having to lift the lid and lose essential heat.
