This bike comes with the same features as the other Mongoose models, only this one is made for kids (ages six and up) as well as adults. With a steel-frame base and extra wide wheels and tires, this bike’s pretty easy to learn on and can handle multiple terrain types, such as sand and snow. The rigid frame works well for snow and sand riding but loses ability in comparison to a suspended mountain bike. The Argus just so happens to be capable enough for trail riding too. Based on how many miles riders get out of this one, it seems to be a very durable pick. It’s made with a steel frame, a four-inch-wide bike-wheel size, aluminum crank arms, and front and back brakes for optimal riding in anything from sand to snow.
Parker is our resident tester and inspiration. Mongoose made a sound decision considering the weight that a child must pedal. Having a wider gear range makes for a versatile bike that can conquer the terrain.

The weight of the bike is nearly 34 pounds (15.04 kg) and it shows. That is almost as heavy as MY full suspension fat bike. To be honest, I don’t think my son has ever used a front derailleur until now. One-by mongoose bicycle systems have all but taken over the mountain bike market. If you were wanting to replace the rigid fork with a suspension fork, then you would probably be hard pressed to find a fat fork that would fit.

Similar to the previous bike, many reviews say that this is a good bike for the price, especially if you make minor upgrades on a few of the parts. With that said, the bike mongoose bicycle handled as a fat bike should. My son was able to adapt his riding to match the needs of the machine. My son is also still a child and I don’t want to torture him too much.
The fat tires drew a lot of attention. Very few bike companies build 24-inch fat bikes. I don’t know of many that go smaller from there either. It could be swapped for a shorter stem to add some downhill stability. Really, this frame is most likely a back up bike for a family of enthusiasts that want their child to join the fat biking they do in the winter.
They are not hydraulic and even I could feel that when testing myself. The job is getting done but there is more arm pump and fatigue when wrestling more weight with a lower grade brake system. One of the main components of any bike is the drive train.
