The Bissell vacuum has a swivel head that enables me to pick up debris from hard-to-reach spots, and if it’s too tight of a squeeze, I simply pull out the attachments. On hard floors, the CleanView Pet Slim was just as competent at collecting dust. However, the weight of the vacuum cleaner meant that some nuggets of cereal were crushed by the cleaner’s wheels as we maneuvered it bissell pet vacuum around the floor, meaning we were creating more mess than we were collecting. Another plus for the CleanView Swivel Pet is that it has a pretty decent attachment set that you would typically not see with an upright in this price range. That said, this vacuum can be difficult to maintain, and there are frequent recurring costs for replacing its filters. The only flaw I found while using this machine for several months, was the 4-foot hose. Honestly, it could use a few more feet to reach the back of a tall chair, upholstered headboard or deep couch. Another downside is that the hose doesn’t swivel at the base, and as a result, I spent a lot of time adjusting the angle of the machine for a comfortable reach.
It’s reasonably effective at dealing with fine material that’s been worked into carpet fibers but pushes around larger debris like rice and cereal pieces. The drive belt for its floorhead also blocks a portion of its brushroll, so you’ll need to clean the same area more than once. However, while its hard plastic body has an otherwise acceptable build quality, it isn’t easy to maintain this vacuum. Some parts, like the brushroll, are difficult to remove, and it has frequent recurring costs. However, this vacuum has good maneuverability around electrical cords, and you can even configure the vacuum to reach under tables or couches.
It can be used in a variety of ways for above-floor cleaning jobs using the included accessories. We also found the vacuum’s construction overall to be a strong point. In one test we measured the Bissell upright with an infrared camera just after starting it, then again after running it for 20 minutes.
Our next metric assessed cleaning up various messes from hard floors, with a section of laminate serving as our test surface. Unfortunately, the performance of this product dropped a bit here. It struggled with medium-sized debris, delivering lackluster results when cleaning rice or oats. It did a little better with fine or larger bissell pet vacuum items, successfully cleaning more of the Cheerios and the flour we tasked it with, but it was still far from the top-tier vacuums when it comes to cleaning power.
