It’s not the most powerful on this list, which means it’s not ideal for experienced shavers or people with thick beards, but is ideally suited for those at the beginning stages of learning how to grow the perfect beard. Braun Electronic GmbH put out its last audio-fi set in 1990 before the business was discontinued. Also, in the early 1980s, Braun sold its photographic and slide projector braun hair removal division to Robert Bosch GmbH. I used Panasonic best shavers for many years- Braun is a serious upgrade in feeling, quality, shave time and maintenance.
Just as before with the S5 and S6, the performance will be exactly the same as in the case of the North American models. Despite having only 3 shaving elements, it was really good at shaving longer stubble and dealt with flat-lying hairs extremely well. Just like with all Braun cc stations, you would need the Braun CCR cartridges but you can buy and use a third-party cleaning solution as well. As usual, the performance will be identical throughout the entire Series 6 range, including the European/Australian models. This type of head movement will actually be useful in practice and require less wrist work on your part for a clean and effective shave. The Series 6 on the other hand features a basic flexing head that can swivel back to front. I do however have to say again that the Series 5 50 is no Series 5 in the sense the old generation (with models like the 5090cc or 5040s) was. That station is actually compatible with the new Series 5 50, so you will be able to buy it separately and use it with a Series 5 50 regardless of the model. All new Series 5 variations are wet/dry and you can only shave cordlessly.

In fact, I wouldn’t really recommend the Series 1 as your main shaver either. The Series 1 is the absolute entry-level family of shavers in Braun’s lineup. When that’s the case, I will present separately each generation and also show you which one is better and what to choose depending on the still available options. So you may be able braun shavers to get a model that’s only available in your country and doesn’t show up in my comparison. We have old and new generations for a given series, some discontinued, some still available and with massive differences in terms of performance in some cases. Just trying to make sense of all the different series and models feels overwhelming.
Foil-based systems use one or more cutting blocks mounted beneath the thin metal head. The foil’s perforations guide the whiskers into the block, where a pair of opposing blades slice them off. The action is more like what you’d get from a pair of scissors than from a knife. Rotary shavers use similar perforated surfaces to guide whiskers toward their cutters, but instead of snipping, hundreds of tiny blades slice hairs with a circular motion. Imagine the horizontal spinning blade on a power lawn mower—but with teeth—and you’ll get the idea.
