Modern electric razors can deliver impressively close shaves, but they can’t quite match the closeness of manual razors. The Series 7 razors consistently produce close, comfortable shaves and are easy to use and maintain. Most shavers are rinsable, and you can easily clean them under water with a quick brush of the foils. Some, like the Braun Series 7 and 9 models we recommend, come with cleaning stations. Generally, replacement cleaning cartridges last about three months and cost a little over $5 each if you buy them in six-packs.
It’s less practical with that protruding holder, you cannot just charge the shaver without cleaning it, there’s a single cleaning mode, and there’s no active drying system (inductive heating). You should simply get the S7 that meets your requirements (for example, if you want a cleaning station, you would get one of the cc models). Like most Braun shaving heads, you would expect around 18 months of use before needing to replace it.
I find the station very practical even if I don’t use it after every shave. However, there’s nothing wrong with getting a faster and more powerful shaver if you have the budget for it. The closeness is also better compared to the lower series, but not a massive difference from a Series 8 for example. The Series 9 and 9 Pro/PRO+ are highly effective shavers and they will work great on both short and long stubble. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s worth paying a lot more for a Pro Series 9.

I had been contemplating going to a salon for IPL hair removal for a while as my friend goes, but I am so glad I put it off and got the Silk-expert Pro 5. I tried my best to offer practical advice from the perspective of the user — someone that actually owns and uses these shavers regularly. Unfortunately, prices have spiked for many of the Arc 3 and Arc 4 Panasonic models. There are however a couple of scenarios where a Braun shaver is probably not the ideal choice.
Braun Series 3 Wet & Dry Electric Shavers can be used on dry skin, wet skin or with shaving foam for a smoother glide. The flexible, pressure-sensitive cutting elements ensure a comfortable shave. Experts might say that’s because electric razors don’t cut as close as a traditional razor/shave cream combo. But in practice, I didn’t notice any difference between the closeness of my shave. In fact, I found that without shaving cream, I could see spots I missed and manage the details of my shave much better.
I consider Braun cleaning stations useful and practical even though objectively they aren’t the best. I usually shave dry with it (as I do with all my braun shavers) as I don’t feel the extra work needed for a wet shave is worth the effort. I think it’s among the most effective shavers I’ve used for flat-neck hairs, even better than the old Series 7. I think the Series 8 really is the best mid-range Braun shaver if we consider its shaving performance and price. The original 83 models have a basic station and are also getting difficult to find nowadays and will probably be phased out. Because it’s not available anymore, I won’t be going into all the details regarding the model names, accessories and so on. The old Series 7 was in my opinion one of Braun’s best ever shavers and my personal favorite. Otherwise, the price difference for getting only a flexing head is probably not worth it.
