Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier Review: Excellent for Allergies

The Alen BreatheSmart 75i is Alen’s most powerful unit, capturing the largest numbers of particles in your air in the shortest amount of time. The 75i is ideal for living rooms, open concept spaces, and other large rooms up to 1,300 sq. Alen air purifiers offer superior performance through the combination of a powerful fan, quiet motor, and advanced filtration technology to deliver and maximize airflow while minimizing noise.

You’ll also want to make sure nothing is blocking the grilles either in or out of the device. Nothing should be resting on top of the outflow, and nothing should block the intake grille. Lastly, if the device is on Turbo or Auto mode, it may run the air purifier at a higher fan speed which is louder. The Honeywell Quietcare and Enviracaire air purifiers contain a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter that can remove 99.97% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns in size from passing air.

It stands at just under 2 feet tall, and it’s designed to be placed on the floor. The instructions advise putting a mat or rug beneath it to prevent carpet stains. Also keep in mind that it’s not for use in bathrooms or other damp locations. Before making the Honeywell HPA300 the top pick in our air purifier guide, the Honeywell HPA3300BV1 PowerPlus True HEPA Air Purifier held the honor. We removed it because it’s frequently out of stock, but we strongly recommend it.

Since the candle test, I’ve used it for trash odors, pizza drippings in the oven, burned toast, that oily smell from frying chicken wings and even neighbors’ cigarette smoke from the sidewalk honeywell purifier outside my window. I expect this will come in handy on poor air quality days particularly during the summer months. The HPA300 boasts 4.8 air changes per hour in a 465-square-foot room.

The particle counter takes readings continuously, with counts totaled in one-minute increments. These Honeywell Air Purifiers are the most popular among Honeywell’s selection. If you plan to use it in a smaller space, the HPA200 or HPA100 might be a more affordable option. Reflects how intuitive and easy the controls are to use, carrying ease, ability to remove the filter, and filter life indicator. Air purifiers are designed to remove contaminants — such as dust, pollen, pet dander and other allergens — from the air in a room. This quiet air purifier works with the Honeywell A and A+ Pre-Filter.

But it’s not the only excellent air purifier we’ve found, and if you prefer the looks, price, or features of our other recommendations, be assured that they, too, are top-notch performers. The Mila air purifier is a notable entrant in the nascent category of truly smart air purifiers. When we tested it in October 2020, it delivered excellent performance on smoke particles, virtually identical to the performance we got from the Coway Mighty. Compared with the features of other smart air purifiers we’ve looked at, its app, sensors, and programmability are head and shoulders more advanced—almost another species. Although we believe that most people are likely to be happy with a purely analog purifier, if you’re keen on smart appliances, then this model is worth considering.

The GermGuardian AC5900WCA was a star performer in our 2019 test, but we also found it to be much louder than the top-pick Coway Mighty, measuring 47 decibels versus 39, on its quiet/medium setting. And the quality of the sound was rough and whooshy, versus the Mighty’s steady white honeywell humidifier noise. The Medify MA-40 performs similarly to the top-pick Coway AP-1512HH Mighty, but it’s much  louder, at 52 decibels (above our 50-decibel definition of “quiet”) on its medium setting and 42 on low. The Coway measured 39 decibels and 31 decibels (nearly inaudible), respectively.
