The vehicle seat belt is mounted directly behind the vehicle seat, not on the pillar of the car’s frame. This means the vehicle seat belt tends to fit slightly differently than it does in other vehicles. For us, it means that this model gets to ride in a high back booster for a while yet because the shoulder belt guide fit is better with a fixed shoulder belt guide. It’s also helped her remain in the correct position when she’s sleeping in the car. She’s got plenty of room to grow in the TurboBooster LX with True Shield and it offers a good vehicle seat belt fit.
Most of the time she rides in a backless booster but she was kind enough to test out this booster in high back mode for us. She’s at the top range of the height for the seat and found it uncomfortable with the back portion attached. At this point, her primary mode of transportation is a harnessed car seat so every time we review a booster, it’s a little more booster training for her.
On the previous KidFit model, the belt threaded into the loop from top to bottom, but now it threads from bottom to top; this configuration is easier to use. The threader also keeps the belt from getting twisted. The KidFit ClearTex Plus was better than any other seat we tested at securely and comfortably positioning the strap on the correct part of a kid’s shoulder.

The main thing we’d like to see in a product like the RightGuide is for the vehicle seat belt to fit the child correctly. A booster seat’s primary and most important job is to position the vehicle seat belt over the 3 strongest points of the child’s body — across both hips and across the center of the collarbone. The lower anchor connectors aren’t required for use — they hold the unoccupied booster seat in place in the event of a crash the same way a vehicle seat belt does. The GoFit Plus weighs 6 pounds, which is more than some of the ultra-lightweight boosters we tested (such as the Cosco Rise, at 2.2 pounds), but its weight is similar to that of other backless boosters with LATCH. It has a weight range of 40 to 110 pounds and a height range of 38 to 57 inches graco car seat (the same as for our top-pick Chicco in backless mode).
