There weren’t any hotspots to speak of beyond the motor and belt, which are the areas we expected the heat to concentrate. One of the biggest positives for the CleanView Swivel bissell crosswave cordless Pet upright is its price; it is really inexpensive. Compared with the Shark Stratos upright we recently reviewed, this Bissell upright is far less than half its price.
It’s a bagless vacuum with a larger dust bin that can hold up to 1.5 liters of debris which is especially nice since pet hair takes up lots of space. The tangle guard prevents hair up to 16 inches long from getting caught, a claim that held up during our testing. “It did a great job picking up the long hair and threads we put down without getting them tangled in the brush roll,” said one expert tester. We first tested a similar Pet Eraser model from Bissell several years ago and were impressed with its performance in cleaning dirt from bare floors.
As the largest unit, Bissell’s Pet Hair upright vacuum is designed to tackle larger messes while also handling smaller, more localized messes with its breakaway wand. As the pet hair, and other debris types, are sucked up through the brush roll and make their way into the dust bin, the cyclonic action kicks in. The brand is also known for making vacuums and carpet cleaners that clean up pet hair. Moreover, Bissell routinely releases new and improved products, and sometimes, it can be almost overwhelming to decide which model is best for each individual’s needs. The Zing worked well on all my surfaces, removing bits of fuzz, hair, and space shrapnel from my bathroom tile and wood floors. Perhaps most impressively, it even cleaned out my musty vintage rugs.
At under 3-inches tall, the easy-to-use robot vacuum can get to hard to reach areas under furniture, where dust, hair and other dirt can build-up without you realizing. It has great suction power ideal for sucking up pet hair, as well as an auto-increase suction feature that that allows the vacuum to deep clean. Large wheels help the vacuum navigate carpets and door ledges, while built-in sensors help it avoid falling down your stairs or bumping into objects. Still, at just under 20 pounds, it may not be the easiest to lift up.
Unclip the latch and you’re free to use this attachment with one of the cleaning tools included. The hose attached to the handle is 8′ long, which gives users a good amount of reach as well. A small latch located in the middle of the vacuum, where the handle slides into place, is where the handle will also break free. That said, users do have the option of removing the wand from the unit, which then allows you to snap on a cleaning tool / accessory. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser upright vacuum stands at 46.8″ tall, measures at 12.4″ wide, and brings home a total weight of 18 pounds.
Originally, I expected the Dyson vacuums to outperform the pack by large swaths. I have since come to see Dyson vacuums as status symbols more than anything. They perform well, certainly, but they cost an arm and a leg and with the exception of pet hair on hard floors, the only Dyson to outperform the Bissell was the $649.99 DC41 Animal Complete. For far less, this Bissell vacuum consistently tested as one of the best.
The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo doesn’t have any automation features. There are a lot of pieces you need to remove to access different parts of the vacuum. There are a few variants of the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo, though they differ mainly in terms of included attachments. Given the price, I do believe the vacuum should perform a bit better in certain areas. Bear in mind, these costs are based on Bissell’s recommendation of replacing the filter every three months.
It also has a 27-foot cord that provides plenty of reach as you clean. There’s also a suction blockage indicator which we haven’t seen before but really like. It’s one of the more useful features that could be included on an upright vacuum. When you see the bissell vacuum cleaner indicator change color from green to red, you can clean the filters or clear the blockage. Where suction is concerned, one small feature that is a big deal is the small squeegee that Bissell added on the bottom of the vacuum, just after the brushroll.
