Packaging SystemGenesis created a holistic packaging system that was impactful and highlighted specific features across a product offering that reached almost 3000 SKU’s. One year on Vin Cox set off from The Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. Some 163 days and 18,000 miles later, he returned a world record breaker.
Essentially an aluminium version of the Croix de Fer, the CDA features a similar plethora of mounts and wide clearances but comes in at a significantly lower price. Part of this is down to the different frame genesis bicycles material, but cheaper components are also a factor. For those interested in dipping their toes into racing, or just want a sportier feeling bike, the Zeal range is Genesis’ entry level carbon option.
For the entry level, you’ll get a Shimano Claris 2×8 drivetrain, an aluminium frame and carbon fork. Whilst the 30 model gets a Shimano 105 2×11 drivetrain, along with the aluminium frame and carbon fork. What they owned in “build quality” they lacked in genesis bicycles brand connectivity. Genesis was hired to help create a brand visual language to help tie the products into a cohesive whole in the global marketplace. Finding the center of the brand design was based on our uncovering the “truth in materials” position.
The geometry is more aggressive than the endurance-oriented Equilibrium, but not quite as ‘head-down bum-up’ as the dedicated racers that are the Zeros. In this range there are also women’s specific models – in addition to the unisex ones. With these bikes, the saddles have been changed for a women specific model as well as shorter cranks and narrower handlebars being specced to better suit female proportions. The serial number is stamped into the bottom of the frame (under the bottom bracket).
