To see how much fun the Kent Torpedo e-bike is, check out my video review below! Then keep reading for my complete thoughts and testing (yes, I rode it too!). The history of Kent begins kent hybrid bike in the early 1900s, when American immigrant Abraham Kamler started refurbishing bicycles in New York City. In 1909, Kamler established his own bicycle store on the Lower East Side.
A 36V and 10.5 Ah battery claims a range of 20 miles (32 km) from its 378 Wh of capacity. Simple front and rear suspension offer a bit of spring without costing an arm and a leg. A 7-speed Shimano transmission may be low-end, but it is at least a name-brand component.
I have a Truckrun motor on my daily rider city e-bike, and it works wonderfully. Cheaper mid-drive electric bikes tend to opt for Chinese-made mid-drive motors like those from Bafang, Truckrun, Tongsheng, and others. If they can swing it, I 100% recommend grabbing a second battery. It’s about the size of a small water bottle and easy to stick in your bag when the family goes on a ride. It can help your kids ride even longer, extending that family Sunday ride even further than 15 miles (25 km).
Riders who like a smooth and stylish ride would enjoy Kent electric bikes. The e-bike features a very straightforward, simplistic design that both men and women may use. Kent bicycles are recognized for being strong and long-lasting. It features an excellent battery and a strong motor, neither of which are visible unless you know exactly where they are located.
It held a 155-lb adult flying through the air, even though I was half expecting a pedal to snap off on my repeated landings. But no, the thing is overbuilt for its ratings, just like Kent’s lawyers surely insisted that it should be. With a front suspension fork that isn’t much to write home about but still works just fine, the bike is somewhat sporty. We built a classic front yard ramp and had fun seeing who could get the most air.
But after going to the gym and completing several CrossFit workouts each week, the rides became harder and more tedious. Each hill burned out our already fatigued legs and around the 4-mile mark, we’d head back to the car with stiff, cramped muscles. Most days, one or more of us would be forced to walk our bikes back to the car due to a broken chain, flat tire or bent wheel. We never wore helmets, of course, because we were teenagers—and teenagers are invincible. There will undoubtedly be trolls claiming e-bikes are going to make kids lazy.
A 52″ person would find it ideal, and it should last about two years. Certain individuals disagree because they believe it would be too tiny. “I bought this for my 9-year-old son’s birthday, and it was wonderful for him. Electric bikes enable children to ride their bikes for longer distances and at higher elevations. The model number can be found on the lower portion of the seat tube just above the crank on a black and silver decal.
