Coleman Brazos Review Tested by GearLab

Whether you’re camping, backpacking, or embarking on a hiking adventure, this sleeping pad offers a convenient and comfortable solution. Coleman Brazos sleeping bag is coleman canopy designed for outdoor camping in moderately cold temperatures. Experience superior comfort and insulation with the Hikenture 4 INCH Thick Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad.

Most models even use recycled insulation material, which helps make your purchase more eco-friendly. A third type is the no-zip style, which is limited to a couple designs (none of which made our list), including a handful from Sierra Designs. The large oval opening requires some modest flexibility and patience to get out of, but going zipper-less can be nice.

Coleman had an idea for manufacturing better lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. A century later, Coleman’s current catalog features a wide-ranging array of products that make spending time outside a pleasure. The reason we feel the Brazos is award-worthy is because it perfectly balances cost with basic necessities. If you want a basic bag that can hold its own against bags that are much more expensive, the Brazos is certainly a good option. In particular, it’s great for kids and teens and for any camper who just wants the basics.

After our testing, the thing we found missing from the Brazos compared to other bags was comfort. Sleep comfortably under the stars in the Coleman Autumn Glen 50 Sleeping Bag, even when it’s 50 degrees outside. It isn’t the largest bag in our lineup, but it certainly isn’t the smallest. We like this bag’s interior pocket, especially because it has a Velcro closure, but it is a little too small. We also like the density of the bag and found that the manufacturer’s Fiberlock Construction really does prevent insulation from shifting and moving after the bag has been extensively used. In the event you wish to send a product back to us, you may return most unused items for a

refund or exchange, minus shipping, within 90 days from the date of purchase unless noted below under

exceptions and exclusions. Refunds are issued to the original form of payment, unless returned in store

where some exclusions may apply.

Most of the picks on our list are geared toward three-season use, but for campers who like to get out year-round, a cold-weather bag is essential. In this category, REI Co-op’s Frostbreak 5 stands out for its excellent warmth at a very reasonable price. Other functional additions include a well-insulated hood, draft tube, and differentiated drawcords (one round and one flat) that make it easy to adjust the aperture in the dark. Added up, the Frostbreak is an excellent value for casual winter adventurers.

To crown the Big Bay the best value sleeping bag, I tested it against 12 other models, including mummy bags, rectangular bags, odd-shaped bags and synthetic and down bags (and a combination of the two). In a controlled environment, I ran a heat-retention test using a wire probe thermometer and hot water bottles. I also laundered each bag at home using my front-loading washing machine and dryer. As I was testing, I considered qualities like comfort, warmth, design features, ease of use, durability, packability and versatility.

The rest of the design is equally premium, including a water-resistant YKK main zipper, roomier-than-average hood, and fleece-lined compression sack that can pull double duty as a pillow. In the end, the temperature rating does have value and you should use it as a basic guideline. In choosing the proper approximate rating, try to get an idea of the very coldest temperature you’ll be experiencing overnight.

This bag will stand up to their spills, mistakes, and overall mistreatment. In some models, there are gaps in the foot area which allow heat to escape. There are a lot of zippers in the layered versions, which can sometimes hinder its functionality. The Coleman Limited Warranty All Coleman products have a warranty against defects in material and workmanship, and the Brazos Cold-Weather Sleeping Bag includes a limited five-year manufacturer’s warranty. Based on our most recent testing, it appears the latest version of the Brazos is significantly more watertight. We poured a cup of water directly onto our bag’s shell, and it stayed pooled on top without permeating the interior during the entire 5-minute test.

With a thickness of 4 inches, this sleeping pad provides ample cushioning and support. It features a self-inflating design, which means you simply open the valve and let the pad inflate on its own. To achieve the desired firmness, you can manually add a few extra breaths of air or use the included pump sack for easy inflation.
