Most of Makita’s 18V and 18V-form factor XGT cordless drills and hammer drills have similar handle grip proportions. The corded drill is ideal for jobs that require high power and electrical autonomy that battery drills cannot provide. For cordless drills, they can be charged with portable batteries and are generally intended for routine work or jobs that require high mobility. It also offers a decent amount of control when it comes to getting the screw heads flush, though we did find a few other drills that were just a bit better in this regard. Unfortunately, we found the performance of the Makita XFD14Z plummeted with the large hole saw compared to other top-ranked drills. The clamp-on handle makes it easier to hold the drill when using larger drill bits, and the shorter length can be very handy when using the drill in more confined areas. I’m having difficulty figuring out which model I should get though – there are several models and I can’t find any concise and up-to-date guides on what the differences are between eachother. I’m buying my first cordless combi drill and after makita circular saw doing some research it seems like what would fit my needs would be an 18v drill – and I’d like to go with Makita.
