So no, I wouldn’t take it to the pump track or have an all-day adventure. Weighing in at 32.3 pounds, Max’s bike is rather hefty. It’s the first Stranger Things bike to feature dual brakes, though they were slow to engage and the levers mongoose mountain bikes were hard to pull. Overall, it looks cool, and you can ride it, but don’t expect a high-performance BMX bike. While I momentarily felt like a kid again riding Max’s bike, I could tell that it was not designed with me in mind.
Mongoose’s BMX range starts off at the Legion L10. It’s made from hi-tensile steel with 1 piece cranks. Its top-tube length is 20-inches long which makes it perfect for riders above approximately 155cm. The mongoose fat tire bike Legion L80 is designed for taller riders because it uses a 20.75-inch top tube which will suit riders from around 5’8” tall. It’s the first BMX in the range to use a 4130 Chromoly steel front triangle.
It’s the same size as the L40 at 20.5-inches but the handlebars are bigger (1” wider and 0.75” taller). It also has an integrated head tube which means a stronger frame. The rims are also wider, which not only makes them stronger but also less prone to pinch flats on hard landings. Still making bikes today, they have seen it all thru the years. The Mongoose Hooligan AL 29″ Bike is a lightweight cruiser. The frame and rims are made from a durable lightweight aluminum while utilizing a steel… Obviously, the cost to ship to these states/countries isn’t cheap, but these bikes are affordably priced even with the cost to ship to these locations.

It’s based off the yellow BMX bike that character Maxine “Max” Mayfield, a.k.a. Madmax, will ride in Season 3, scheduled to air on July 4. The Legion L40 uses a 20.5-inch top tube, ideal for riders around 5’6”. This determines the “size” of the BMX, not the wheel size.
