It’s powerful but tiny, perfect for hair-by-hair styling if you’re looking for finesse in your trimmer. The unit is bulky, lacks battery life, and is somewhat clunky in function, but it does the job, creating an extended arm to easily trim unwanted hair. The skin comfort system features a hypoallergenic foil and rounded tips to protect your skin while shaving. Finally, there’s the unique feature of a second trimmer head that uses a normal blade (no rounded teeth) and has an adjustable comb. As mentioned at the beginning, the guards that Philips included are of excellent quality and glide so easily on the skin, even when it’s a bit damp.
The biggest thing that jumped out for me was the speed of the operation. It took at least a quarter less time to do my regular weekly shave, thanks to the fast-moving cutter (12,000rpm). So well, in fact, in the days philips body groomer after using this one I found myself checking myself out in shop windows, admiring my handiwork. I tried them all at home and judged them by how easy they were to grip and how neatly and quickly they did the job.
They also snap extremely securely over the foil head and are easy to remove. For the past 10 years, I’ve owned various Bodygroom models and the design, features and even the performance have actually improved over time. The Bodygroom line from Philips has long been the default choice for anyone looking for a capable and durable body trimmer. Panasonic boasts that “sustainability is at the heart” of this product because you “only choose the attachments for your individual style”, meaning “there’s less waste created”. “I can recklessly shave away at my sensitive areas without a scratch, nick, or cut.”
For that reason, I think using a lubricating spray for clippers and shavers from time to time (like the Andis CoolCare Plus) would be beneficial. Ideally, you would do this after every trimming session to keep the trimmer clean and working well. I personally use the 3mm guard to trim the hair on my legs, forearms, abs and chest. Even though the head has two cutting edges and you can move it up and down, most of the time you will be pulling it toward you (against the grain).
There are a ton of specs to consider when looking for the right electric shaver, and that can make finding the right razor for you confusing. That’s why we enlisted the help of Calvin Quallis, founder of grooming brand Scotch Porter, and Dr. Corey L. Hartman, founder philips body groomer of Skin Wellness Dermatology, to break it down. We considered certain accessories (including various attachments, cleaning tools, and a travel case) to be nice but not necessary. Of course it is, though if you’d rather not, then don’t be pressured into it.
