We have picnic shelters available at Kensington Metropark for all your event and gathering needs. They come in a wide range of sizes and locations within the parks. Kensington Metropark and Island Lake State Recreation Area is connected via a paved connector going underneath I-96. Trails vary in length from half a mile to two miles and can be combined for an even longer walk. Trails are mainly level, unpaved gravel paths with wooden bridges and boardwalks.
Equipment is on engineered wood fiber (wood mulch) safety surfacing. Forget glossy magazines and far-off places. Explore trails that aren’t on the app but clearly exist
right here, right now, in real life.
Portions of Chickadee and Wildwing Trails are steep. Occasionally woodland trails may be blocked with debris such as fallen tree limbs. Nature trails are not cleared or salted in the winter and may be snow-covered, slippery or muddy. Paved walkways from the parking lot provide access to most the Farm Center facilities, except for the Living History Village and Sugar Bush areas.
The mountain bikes have sturdy frames and rugged brakes. You can go for hybrid bikes that can be used on roads and on tough terrains.
