Crafts and tradespeople who work on-site where power isn’t always readily available should give some serious thought to this angle grinder.

Makita® 4-1/2 in angle grinder combines 7.5 a power with comfort and motor protection features for long lasting industrial performance. The 9557PB angle grinder delivers rpm with soft start for smooth start-ups. Ease of use features include an extra large paddle switch for comfortable operation and a lock-on/off feature for continuous operation. The 9557PB weighs only 4.5 lb with a side handle that can be easily installed on either side of the tool. This grinder also has an AC/DC switch for use with alternative power sources. The 9557PB is a versatile and powerful grinder engineered for cutting grinding and polishing applications.

It is a versatile and powerful grinder with variable speed so the user can adjust the RPM depending on the material. In addition to polishing and grinding stones, the 9565CV features variable speed control. Angle Grinder is built around a powerful 15 Amp motor that delivers up to 6,600 makita circular saw RPM for fast stock removal. It features labyrinthine construction that helps seal internal components from outside contaminants to help increase tool life. The easy-to-use large trigger switch locks on for extended operation, and a large shaft lock permits easy wheel changes.

I didn’t experience that thanks to the lock-on switch, however, using that feature does require an extra degree of caution when in the “on” position. Grinding wheels are quite a bit heavier than cutting discs, so I expected some kickback when I started the grinder with a grinding wheel installed. Fortunately, the Makita’s slow-start technology made starting it up with a grinding wheel feel no different than a cutting wheel. There wasn’t any noticeable jump or jolt, which made maintaining my desired grip and lining up cuts quite easy.
