The first day I set the tent up the wind blew it over while I was setting it up, 3 “Knuckle” joints broke instantly, they are a part of the tent poles that allow the tent to “pop up”. This was not a strong wind, more like a gust in a breeze and should not have injured the tent at all. During the course of camping all 6 of these joints broke coleman sundome and I used duct tape to hold the poles together (which was far superior to the cheap brittle plastic joints that came with the tent). The Cabin will fair well in both warm and cold weather[. The single walls are seam-sealed and have good coverage all the way around. The tub-style floor and tent walls are made of thick 150D polyester.
We awoke in the morning to a ceiling patterned with dew, the respiration-induced droplets threatening to rain down if an arm but glanced off the taut Coleman walls. For retail purchases returned without a receipt, the refund will be issued as a store merchandise
credit at the lowest price within the last 90 days. Proper ID will be required in the form of a valid, state-
issued driver’s license or state ID card. We reserve the right to limit, or refuse returns without a receipt. I highly recommend this Coleman 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent if you’re expecting high temperatures and hot weather, but not if you’re expecting plenty of rain. Also, if you’re expecting any rain at all, you do need to seal this inverted seam.
All of these heavy-duty materials add a great deal to the weight—at nearly 25lb, this is the heaviest tent in our 2021 review. However, this was not a bother to us, as this tent really only needs to be transported from the car to the impact pad, and we’d rather heft a few extra pounds than sacrifice durability. There’s no included footprint with this tent, and we’d recommend purchasing either a 9’x9’ or 10’x10’ footprint, which unfortunately is not offered by Coleman. You can also save quite a bit of money by opting for a tarp instead. These will run you anywhere from $10-20, depending upon your desired level of quality. The Instant Tent 6 is also lacking a couple of other features that would help it compete with several similar tents.
But the walls, which are made of fabric that’s “twice as thick” as standard tent fabric, according to Coleman, make for a stuffy place to sleep. It was after midnight, and our tent was crammed with two adults and three small sleeping kids. Inside, the air was clammy and hot, the tent a sealed chamber akin to a plastic bag. Asphyxiation is rarely a concern on a family camping trip. But this month, on a stormy night in northern Minnesota, my wife and I awoke lightheaded and out of sorts.
This is also a 3-season tent with huge windows designed for comfort, and here again, you have both good and bad sides due to this, more below. What’s more, the ventilation of this tent is unsurpassed by almost all of the other competitors. You’ll be well-protected from wind and rain, without having to worry about a stuffy night’s sleep.
Costing less than $50 and small in size it is best kept for younger children who would like a tent of their own to sleep in. 10 of Coleman’s tents have a suggested retail price of less than $100 You can often find another 10 or so, that coleman screen tent with discounts fall into this category. Rather than just playing safe and highlighting those that are always cheapest. Ditto the last two reviews — the tent is great but Coleman NEEDS to re-engineer the crappy plastic corner pieces.
Taking down the Coleman 10-Person Tent and then packing it up takes slightly more than 5 minutes for 2 people, and about ~10 minutes on my own, excluding washing and drying, of course. After, secure the 6 s-hooks of the rainfly to the 6 loops on the coleman screen tent base of the tent. Lastly Coleman appear to have teamed up with Realtree to market a new camouflage tent. Available in two versions the Realtree XTRA 4 looks to be exactly the same as the Standard Evanston model, the only difference been the colors.
A common problem users face is not following the recommended cleaning instructions. To clean your tent, use mild soap and lukewarm water, gently scrubbing any stains or dirt. Always ensure the tent is completely dry before storing to prevent mold or mildew. To ensure maximum stability, one common issue users face is incorrectly setting up the tent. Make sure to properly stake out all corners and guy lines, ensuring they are taut and secure.
