COLEMAN Evanston Screened 8 Tent

The Coleman Back Home Instant Screenhouse assembles in three minutes in just three steps to create a shady, bug-free area outdoors. Great for picnics, barbeques, campouts, and more, this screened canopy is made with UVGuard coleman sundome material that offers 50+ UPF protection from the sun’s dangerous rays. The rugged Polyguard 2X double-thick fabric stands up to the rigors of the outdoors, so you can use this screened tent season after season.

In our tests one camper took less than 10 minutes to put it up on the first try. Two shorter aluminum poles cross to support the roof while four longer poles join to the roof poles at the top of the tent and slide into pegs at the ground. The tent roof is made of polyester taffeta treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating. The walls are made of fine no-see-um nylon mesh edged with polyester taffeta. This polyester material is less susceptible to UV damage than the nylon that previous versions of this tent incorporated, but it generally has a feel that is not quite as soft. Despite the change in fabric, this REI shelter still weighs just 13 pounds, several pounds less than many others of this type.

If you don’t have time to go through exactly how we decided on our favorite screen house, that’s fine. This design can sometimes mean that the entire footprint of the screen house isn’t very usable. Regardless of the shape, the straight wall design is nice because the height is uniform across the entire footprint of the screen house. The skirt (sometimes called a drape) is a coleman ice chest solid piece of polyester that lines the bottom of the screen house and kind of looks like an extra flap all the way around. Often, there will be a YouTube video tutorial on setting up your model of screen house if you need some extra help. The EAST OAK Screen House is giant, at 94 square feet, and makes an excellent dining tent for camping when the RV starts to get stuffy.

You have stakes and guylines included and this structure can easily withstand a lot of winds in spite of its boxy shape and its incredible height. So this is a nice item to have for picnics, BBQ, or for a campout. This Coleman Back Home Instant Screen House 12 x 10 is a fully freestanding structure with a 3-minute setup, a waterproof roof, 2 doors, and with a great price tag. No-see-um mesh is simply a mesh screen with holes that are too small to let tiny flying midges, commonly called “no-see-ums,” from passing through the mesh. For comparison, no-see-ums are much smaller than mosquitoes (and sometimes difficult to see).

The Coleman Screened Canopy Tent is easily portable, weighing only three pounds. Hanging out in here, you’ll find shelter from the sun, wind, and bugs. It sets up in about a minute and is made of durable Polyguard double-thick fabric.

This umbrella attachment creates a compact screen tent to keep out insects when placed over a standard patio umbrella. Its pop-up design allows you to have it ready in just minutes, leaving more time to relax and enjoy a camping trip. And when it’s time to pack up and head home, the tent conveniently folds down and fits into the included duffle bag. When the weather is nice, it can be a shame to let pesky bugs, harsh sunlight, or even a passing rain shower drive you into your home or camping shelter.

So after succumbing to my son’s begging to camp, naturally they were the first company I turned to. The only tent that we’d consider taking out in the harsher months of Spring and Fall, this Coleman is the only tent that we can claim to be suitable coleman screen tent for three seasons. Neither the screen room nor the sleeping area is great for cooking, though, if that’s what you’re looking for. The screen room has a relatively low ceiling so it’d be risky to whip out a grill in case it spits and sparks.
