The Ozark Trail 9 Person Cabin shares the same shortcomings as the other discount cabins found in the Ozark Trail lineup, most notably being its weather protection and durability. As far as fairweather shelters go, however, this one may be the best value in terms of livability for your money. Layout wise is virtually identical to the Core Instant Cabin we evaluated for our 10 person tent roundup, but delivers those same massive interior dimensions for about $100 less.
As I mentioned in the Durability section above, most tents are made of polyester; others are made of nylon. These materials aren’t as durable as canvas or cotton—which are commonly used in higher-priced tents. Some common complaints about durability are poles and stakes breaking. If you enjoy hiking or backpacking, you’ll need a compact tent such as these from Ozark Trail. These are easily packed and won’t weigh you down as you’re hiking to new destinations. On movie nights, set up the included media screen and gather the family—decide beforehand who makes the popcorn.
Having room to spread out inside a tent is great, but unless it’s after dark or raining, chances are you won’t be spending any more time inside your shelter than you absolutely have to. Nobody wants to spend all day sitting in direct sunlight either though, and that’s where a tent with a screen room like this Ozark Trail 9 Person Cabin comes into play. Like the 12 person tent, it also comes with a T-style door, so you can move camping gear and furniture without having to fangle it through a small, D-style door. A center height of 78 inches makes this a great choice for taller people, as any good cabin tent should. What I particularly like about this family tent is that although it’s a large tent, it’s more of a dome-style construction.
The manufacturers are also claiming that it makes a great choice for many outdoor adventures. The three-room cabin is definitely one of Ozark Trail’s more expensive models though, so if you’re shopping on a budget, there are plenty of other models worth considering. The Clip & Camp dome is particularly affordable, and also happens to be one of the most dependable models the brand currently makes. Livability describes the overall day-to-day experience of owning and using a tent, and tents that are more comfortable, convenient, and easy to use score the highest in terms of livability.
Second, Ozark Trail tents are affordable because they use very basic materials. All Ozark Trail poles are either steel alloy or fiberglass, and the fabrics used throughout the tent are typically on the thinner side. Again, not a deal-breaker, but don’t expect these tents to stand up to the same use and abuse as their premium alternatives from brands. Oddly enough, ozark trail shower tent Ozark Trail’s most basic, base bones shelter takes the title of most durable. We chose the Ozark Trail Clip & Camp because unlike larger cabins with plastic hubs and countless poles, this traditional two-pole dome has the fewest number of parts that can potentially fail. Our favorite Ozark Trail tent currently is the Ozark Trail Three Room Instant Cabin.
Although they’re a little harder to use, they allow you to move bigger furniture in and out of the tent easily. At 128 sq ft, you’ll have more than enough room for two queen air mattresses, plus gear, plus plenty of headroom with an inside height of 74 inches. Ozark Trail makes some of the best instant tents around, and certainly one of the most affordable. Not only that, but the dome tent will keep you safe from the elements better than any cabin tent out there. If you want to know a bit more about what kind of tents they have on offer, you’re in luck. I’ve taken the time to research Ozark Trail tents, and compiled a list of the finest and most budget friendly tents they produce.
With our reliance on technology these days, Ozark has included an e-port that can be used to run power into the shelter if your campsite has it. Your tent won’t be air-conditioned, and things can get stuffy once you pack it full of people. Newer tents build in vents and roofs that you can open up to promote airflow, along with the mesh windows that will let in air when you choose. Some tents are also built to keep out the sun’s rays, making them great for those who like midday naps on vacation. Camping is far more fun when you have someone sharing the experience with you.
