While it is completely usable, it is just strange, and doesn’t look right. Nowadays mountain bikes tend to be flatter and wider, however the Incline offers a more standard handlebar more like my hybrid bikes. These bikes are also enjoyable to ride and are available in a number of sizes, scopes, and kinds at reasonable rates. Modern 27.5″ with hard packed tires rolls over everything. Light alloy frame with 24 speeds, and mech disc brakes. There are, however, a number of points that make this a more versatile bike than the carbon alternative.
Tyre clearance is increase to 38c, there are discrete mudguard and pannier mounts and an extra set of bottle bosses is present on the downtube. Due to being disc brake only, the bridge between the seatstays could be removed. This further increases mud clearance and also adds to the frame’s compliance, providing better control.
But for its relatively narrow 26″ x 2.1″ tires, riding in the mud was a bigger challenge. So we came to the relatively dry, stone-paved forest road single track. I did about 10 minutes of grinding with the bike on relatively flat grass, having my partner Eve on hand to keep track of me. Despite the bike’s modest price tag, we were quite excited to see how it would perform on the road. If you’re in the market for a more porteur-style bike, the Brixton is where Croix de Fer meets cargo. Its 1×9 drivetrain keeps things simple, while the swept back riser bars give the rider a more upright position.
Essentially an aluminium version of the Croix de Fer, the CDA features a similar plethora of mounts and wide clearances but comes in at a significantly lower price. Part of this is down to the different frame material, but cheaper components are also a factor. The aero features of more expensive bikes are present, with cables are routed internally and the leading edges of the frame are smoothly rounded.
It is one of the few low-cost full-suspension trail bicycles with a 3×7 drivetrain that has a wider range of speed options. Some may find the 3× drivetrain more complicated to shift, but it’s a better learning curve for newbies. It’s a much better learning curve for the novice, because afterward, whether the bike is genesis mountain bike replaced with a 2× or a 1×, you’ll be able to master it more quickly. The Vapour is Genesis’ CX race machine and there are three models available (10, 20 and 30). There’s the option of having a full carbon frame at the higher end of the spec too, or a more affordable version with an aluminium frame and carbon fork.

You could put 38c tyres on it and go bike-packing on some gravel, or you could put front and rear pannier racks on, throw in some mudguards, and take it on an around the world tour. You could even commute, go on road rides, use it as a utility shopper. As the name suggests, these are bikes that are designed for the explicit purpose of riding on the road. Some are more race oriented, meaning mudguard and pannier mounts are forgone and the geometry is longer and lower. Others have more of an endurance focus, better suited to long rides and have all the mounts you need for light cycle-touring.
