Madison Genesis, a defunct UCI Continental team, used carbon bikes. The cables are routed inside for aerodynamics, and the down tube has a big section for torsional rigidity. Additionally, these bikes are pleasant to ride and are available in a range of body sizes and styles. It makes a good commuting bike since it can tolerate some punishment. The Carrera Detonate Full Suspension Mens Mountain Bike is a little more expensive than the Genesis 26″ V2100 Mountain Bike, but it also has longer fork travel. But for races that are solely on roads, this should be more than adequate. These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental genesis bicycles team Madison Genesis. With a 2×9 Shimano Sora groupset and mechanical disc brakes, there are notable differences to the higher end Croix de Fer. But these won’t present an impediment to getting out and using the frame for the huge variety of applications it has the capability for. Gravel riding, endurance road riding, cycle-touring, commuting, these are all still possible on this bike – it’s just a more accessible platform to get started with.
Twist shifters tend to be a quick and easy way to tell the quality of a bike.
