Dorel Industries houses all of its production plants in Taiwan or China to lower costs. The Schwinn brand was re-ignited, and it started producing a wide number of new bike models, including electric bikes. If you want to see schwinn ebike models by this brand, you can begin with our review of the Schwinn Meridian electric cargo tricycle. The battery is mounted on the rack, freeing up space on the frame to enable users to easily climb on and off the bicycle.
Different components are present through the Mendocino, including the Shimano Tourney rear derailleur and Shimano REVOSHIFT 6-speed, twist shifters. The crank is a schwinn ebike three-piece 42T, mounted on the 6061 aluminum frame with internal cable routing. Slightly different again is the fork which is a 26” Hi-Ten steel, 100mm bolt-on.
Our Coston and Marshall lines have an optional extended-life battery available that lets you go up to 80 miles per charge. If you are using the highest pedal assist level, you might be seeing mileages in the range of miles per charge. Schwinn’s ebikes of the past looked a little dated, so it’s nice to see a cleaner look with frame integrated batteries. They’ll absorb many of the bumps, can handle some looser soils, but not sacrifice too much efficiency on paved surfaces.
The Marshall has a 6061 aluminum frame with internal cable routing, along with JAK 7 mechanical disc brakes with a 180mm front rotor and 160mm rear rotor. At the front of the Schwinn Marshall is a 27.5”, Hi-Ten steel fork with 100m travel. This offers plenty of cushion for off-road riding, or in case you hit any potholes on the way to work. The standard batteries that come on our Marshall, Coston CE and Coston DX bikes are good for up to 45 miles of riding. But Schwinn knows many riders want to go farther, so we developed higher capacity batteries that are super easy to install (you’ll only need a screwdriver).
The front and rear lights are attached to the fenders while the bottom lights are part of the battery itself. If it’s a bright night and you just want some visibility, the bottom lights work well. Otherwise, the headlight is adjustable to your preference, and the rear light is built into the fender itself. The controller is easy to use with one thumb, which is nice.
