Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent Review Very Affordable & Express Setup

Customers found the stakes more durable than they thought they’d be, and the bulk of the tent durable to the elements. It is a three-season tent that is best suited to fair-weather camping throughout summer and in the milder months of fall and spring. Overall, the mesh design of this affordable coleman ice chest tent provides proper ventilation in the summer to keep you cool. Airflow is ensured by the upper vents and walls, which retain a cool temperature internally. More vents at the bottom would have been beneficial, since the tent may get stuffy if there are more than two campers.

For one, because this is essentially a “wedge” shaped tent, the walls are fairly steep, so there’s not much extra shoulder room inside the shelter. Still, the Hooligan is one of the best-made tents in the Coleman lineup, and also one of the least expensive. Try it out, and if you love it, consider building it up with better components. Actually, you can fit two queen size air mattresses in the Coleman 6 person instant cabin, with some room left to store your gear. The setup process of the Coleman 6 person instant cabin tent is a DREAM compared to a traditional tent.

Pop-up tents also known as instant tents take up barely any space and weigh very little. That’s why instant pop up tents like the ones by Coleman are so amazing, they set themselves up in a matter of seconds. Coleman Instant Up Tents can be set up in under three minutes and provide a large living space. Comfortable and practical, Instant Up Tents are great for touring, a weekend away camping or an even longer stay. The same is with its height; the tent with such huge straightened walls is an obstacle for winds so rather use a dome tent if you expect very windy situations in your outdoor adventure.

This is the smallest tent in the Coleman Instant Series of tents which includes several sizes, see for example this Coleman Instant Cabin tent 6. What’s more, the ventilation of this tent is unsurpassed by almost all of the other competitors. You’ll be well-protected from wind and rain, without having to worry about a stuffy night’s sleep. After you take the tent out of its bag,  reverse the bend of the corners of the external frame, so the poles extend out and down, rather than down and up (the way they are stored). The key factor in the simple set-up procedure is the pole system, which comes attached to the tent.

The Cabin has three large windows, easy access vents in the ceiling (these are accessible from inside the tent thanks to zippers in the ceiling), and two storage pockets. The only ding on the windows is that they have no ties or way to secure them once opened, so they are left to simply dangle. At 56 sq ft, you can fit two twin air mattresses with about a foot of hallway left or fill the entire tent wall to wall with a full and a twin.

Vestibules are great for storing gear or equipment outside the main body of the tent. They’re great for keeping stinky boots dry and safe without having to bring them into where you’re sleeping. If you want a tent that you can setup quickly in the sunshine and spend the rest of your day relaxing with a small group or family, this tent is GREAT. The main structure isn’t the worst, with the entire tent made of 150D polyester and all seams sealed. However, the zippers and the mesh netting are poorly made, and the bag will not last more than a season before it rips or springs a leak.

It has a small removable wind/rain cover and there are 4 doors, one on each side. If I could do it again I would buy the 4 person Coleman pop up tent and I even have suggested doing just that to people who have asked for my recommendation. Everything has its imperfections and the Coleman 2 person pop up tent does have a few things I don’t like. If it’s early morning and we have to put the instant tent away so we can get to the next campsite I just pick it up and shake off most of the early morning dew before folding it up. The Coleman pop-up tent is made of thin but durable polyester and uses lightweight pre-assembled fiberglass poles that can be twisted to fold but also pop open to their original shape when released.
