Built In Blackstone Griddle: How To for an Outdoor Kitchen

Since the Blackstone is the recent addition I am still unconscious of the different placement of the grease cup. It is simply a habit I will have to rewire as I get used to using the Blackstone griddle. The Blackstone only has the flat-top grill so if you want to have both, Camp Chef is the griddle for you. Traeger can more than take on the king of flat-top grills, but it will cost you.
We’ve been hinting that we’re not a fan of the idea… We’ve even told you how to build one… But we haven’t told you why we don’t recommend building a Blackstone grill into an outdoor kitchen. A built in griddle will also be easy to hook into your natural gas lines or propane tank. A built in griddle is designed to be placed into an outdoor kitchen. You don’t have to worry about rust… And it will last a long time.
There are unique challenges you’ll face by incorporating an economy appliance into a grill island. The main body of the griddle is stainless steel, an upgrade over the powder coated steel you often see. The exterior of the grill is made from stainless steel and looks and feels premium. A lot of the grill and griddle combos we’ve tested use a split design where you get a small grill and a small griddle. It’s an excellent choice if you plan to use a griddle for cooking sparingly or only want to add some egg or pancake-cooking ability to your normal grill cookouts.
The main difference between cooking on a propane griddle vs. a gas gill is how heat is applied to the food. In a grill, the heat is transferred directly to the food via the propane flame. As grease drips down, the flames rise and provide the often-sought-after

flame-grilled taste. However, the griddle is similar to cooking on a pan, where heat gets applied to the cooking surface and then transferred to the food. Some models come with a cover and a hood which is a metal lid but these two models don’t.
We all make mistakes, and leaving things outside is one of them. But even if your griddle gets rusted, it doesn’t mean you have to toss it. To remove rust, put on a pair of heat-resistant gloves and turn on the griddle to a high heat. Scrape off the corrosion using a metal scraper, turn off the heat, and let the surface cool.
I prefer the rounded construction of the Flatrock; it feels more stable when I use it. I hope that, if the Flatrock is successful, we will see a more affordable version from Traeger at some point. Before you get to cook on the Flatrock, you have to cure the steel. When you first put the steel plate in, the surface is incredibly rough.
