We later learned that many of the company’s advertising claims were found to be baseless, and Molekule subsequently retracted almost all of them. (You can read about the saga in our reports from February and June 2020; the Air was then known as the MH1.) That year we also tested a Molekule Air Mini and judged it to be similarly poor. At night, for example, you can shut off its display, which features a far-too-bright air-quality indicator lamp. Despite its low price tag, this air purifier effectively removed 99 percent of airborne particles when set to the highest mode in our test. It features a 3-in-1 filtration system that includes a pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and HEPA filter.
Instead, it uses washable, electrically charged plates to capture airborne particulates. It did reasonably well in our testing, removing 95.2% of the smoke on high and 89.7% on
medium. And the need to frequently wash the plates—and, once a year, take the whole machine apart and give it a deep clean—sounds like a hassle rather than a selling point.
At home, I always change my air filters at least every three months and, now that I live in a 1999-built home, I do it at least every other month or monthly. Although I have answered almost all the problems users encounter with Levoit air purifiers, you can always discover some less specific faults. However, to keep your
air purifier working without issues and offer high-quality air in return, it is always best to do regular maintenance. Carbon filters are to be replaced every 3 months, HEPA filters every months and permanent filters need to be replaced when damaged. Read the user manual carefully and use the instructions in it to replace the air purifier filter to make it function well. Some of its air purifiers, such as the Dyson Pure Cool TP04, which we also tested, use a HEPA filter, but provides no CADR. The Dyson TP04, perhaps unsurprisingly, performs well according to Dyson’s own metrics.

I have the same advice if the Levoit air purifier does not work if neither the LEDs nor any of the buttons on the device work.
