Igloo Trailmate Journey 70-Quart Cooler Brown

This is much cheaper than coolers like Yeti, but it’s much more expensive than a cheaper cooler like the Coleman Xtreme. The lid has moulded in bungee chord loops that can be used so you can attach extra items to the lid of your cooler. The Trailmate has not one but two bottle openers, one on each side. This is a good little feature and means you’ll never have to worry about taking a bottle opener with you. The cooler is raised off the ground by it’s wheels as well as the skid rails and non-slip rubber feet.

Some may find this igloo soft cooler point to be steep, but a comparison of a similar sized roto molded cooler will reveal the value. For example, the Yeti 75 is nearly $200 more expensive and does not have wheels nor the added features as outlined above. It goes without saying that the Trailmate is the perfect beach, tailgating or surf fishing cooler capable of handling rugged terrain at a reasonable price. Igloo Trailmate Journey 70 Cooler – Gray/Black – With Trailmate, nothing gets in fun’s way. Igloo built an up-for-anything cooler so it’ll roll right over rough terrain like it’s on a paved path.

build quality

The trail had plenty of rocks and elevation that it went over pretty igloo trailmate. Some of the rocks had it wanting to twist over, but the worse that happened was some water drained out. This brings me to a point that if it did turn over all the contents would come out, as the lid is not locking. Igloo Coolers have always been known for their attractive price points. While they typically won’t have the level of performance of higher ends brands like Yeti, RTIC, Orca, etc., they have always struck a happy balance between cost and usability.

A pocket, an accessory holder, a mobile device stand, and two built-in bottle openers are also among the items that come with the Marine and Journey coolers. There are only a handful of color options to choose from for each of these models from the Trailmate series. The Igloo Trailmate Marine is chock-full of features and rocks some giant wheels with high clearance to cart your festivities just about anywhere. While we generally liked this cooler’s usability, funky variety of features, and ability to roll with us, we found ourselves disappointed in its insulation and durability. The lid actually pulled right off the cooler with very little effort, and though we were able to reattach it, we’re bummed it happened in the first place. If you’re in the game for sheer quantity of features and the lowest possible price tag, you might like the bells and whistles of the Trailmate.

Ice Retention – Insulated body and lid provide up to 4 days of ice retention. Optionally, you can get a bicycle attachment for this cooler if you want to keep the supplies you get at the market fresh. The manufacturer offers a 5-year warranty for all versions of the RollR cooler, which somewhat justifies the steep price. Besides the size, relatively limited ice retention capacity or a basic latch system can also be reasons why you want to consider some of the Igloo Trailmate cooler alternatives. Despite an affordable price tag, the one-year warranty period seems underwhelming.
