This stove features 60,000 BTUs per burner, which is more power output than many commercial ranges. It boils water so fast that you’ll want to keep an eye on the stove to ensure you don’t scorch your food in the process.
Besides, the cost of propane and/or butane fuel canisters adds up. If you can save money, reduce your fossil fuel emissions, and reduce the number of propane or butane canisters going into a landfill, this seems like a win-win-win to us. What is clear is that high BTUs don’t always correlate with faster boil times when it is windy.
For the same coleman camp stove, you would be hard-pressed to find a better stove than the Classic, but for a little more money, the Coleman Cascade Classic simmers better and is more fuel efficient. The Cascade is the upgraded version of this stove, and may replace it completely at some point. If money is less of an object, we recommend checking out the Kovea Twin Slim. It performed admirably across all metrics and is one of the most portable stoves in our review.

Well-versed campers are comfort experts, and one item they don’t compromise on is a sleeping mattress. The most unusual feature on this coleman camp stove, in Alex Swanson’s collection, are the latches to hold the case shut that fold open to unlatch the stove and hold the oven when tilted back. The Triton stove can comfortably hold a 12-inch pan and 10-inch next to each other, and its frame will support a fair amount of weight. I had a hefty pot of boiling pasta on one burner and a pan full of searing chicken legs on the other without any issues. That doesn’t mean you should try to sit on it (nobody wants that kind of toasty buns!), and it still needs a flat surface to function this well.

The Classic is cheap at full retail price, and online retailers often have it for even cheaper. While it wasn’t the best in any of our tested categories, it holds its own and performs consistently. While the Classic is pretty much the same as many other table top stoves, the fuel adaptor is noticeably easier to attach to the stove body than many of our other tested models.
