Having owned a few hub-hyper mountain bike electric mountain bikes in the past, I can say that hub motors don’t exactly appreciate heavy jumps and prolonged exposure to rough terrain. Dubbed the Jet Fuel, this electric bike is made by Hyper Bicycle Co, a brand which we’ve talked about quite a bit here on InsideEVs. Known for its affordable electric bike offerings, Hyper has been making a name for itself in the for-sport e-bike category, with a number of entry-level electric mountain bikes that significantly lower the barriers to entry. The brand’s e-bike offerings, some of which can even be found in Walmart, are indeed built to a budget, but nonetheless offer the enhanced mobility you’d come to expect from an e-bike. All that battery power is sent to the 500w geared hub motor in the rear of the bike.
From our carbon-spoked Lún HYPER race wheels, to our budget-friendly Lún Road; there’s an option for every rider and every race. HeyBike electric bikes are some of the most user-friendly electric bike models on the market. Their higher quality control and awesome specs are what make the HeyBike Models a top EBC recommendation. The Schwinn Men’s GTX 3 is a lightweight hybrid designed for city commute. It’s a 28” bike with an aluminum dual sport frame and a front suspension fork that can tackle a bump or two with ease.
This hyper mountain bike comes with an integrated flush-mounted battery and the charger. It can charge in approximately 4 hours and can run for about 20 miles. The rear hub 36 Volt brushless motor provides you with 6 different speeds to make it to your destination with ease. Track your battery power and speed at-a-glance by using the integrated LED Display.
I mean Walmart generally has the stigma of cheap, low quality goods for a certain demographic. Maybe sale of higher quality good through the e-commerce website has a different stigma/expectation. But still who goes to Walmart.com looking for a multi thousand dollar bicycle…crickets. People go there looking for sub $400 bicycles, not sure this is a good move for Walmart or Hyper. Hyper would be better off selling through a different e-commerce platform. It seems that time is now as Hyper begins gearing up to sell through Walmart.
The key word here is “typically.” In 2020, I had several ebikes in for review that really don’t fall into those preset classes – except for when they were set to. One was the plain crazy Delfast Top 2.0 ebike, another was the more typical but powerful Priority Current, the cool Vintage Electric Roadster, and most recently, the Juiced Bikes Hyper Scorpion. Absolutely if we are talking base model GOOD components with decent enough geometry for $1500. Also, no mtber shops at walmart for mtb parts because they dont carry mtb parts. If they had real tires, pedals, multitools, sealant for a competitive price im sure many would be all over it.
Like others said, walmart.com is a different thing then the store. I have a hyper dirt jump frame and the rear tire clearance is horrible, it barely fits a 2.1 maxxis dth which is basically a slick tire, it rubs every time theres any side load on the wheel. Its like they just used the same clearance from the bmx race frames that run like 1.5” tires. I’m only 115 pounds and, historically, I’ve found it difficult to ride deep dish wheels in wind gusts, and I knew the desert would be quite windy. I’ve also had issues in the past with wheel wobbles on descents, especially with deeper dish wheels. However, since getting my Lún 60 mm disc set in January, I had never had a problem with crosswinds in Florida, even where it’s super windy off the beach.
However, the fell below what the pair wanted. It has a big round motorcycle-style LED headlight (and it’s bright as heck), as well as a very bright full-time LED brake light activated by the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. It also has turn signals, a very loud horn and a USB port on the left bar for your phone or GPS.
