Coleman Instant Tent 4 persons

We experienced some very high coleman sundomes when camping in southern Utah and although it was very noisy I never felt like the whole thing was going to blow away. Taking it down was just as simple, and my husband has been waxing poetic for weeks about the ease with which he was able to pack this tent up and hit the road. Only logged in customers who have purchased this product may leave a review. The tent has the Coleman WeatherTec system in place but upon further review of it, it doesn’t seem to work that well on this one. However, the lack of a room divider and privacy might be an issue for some families. This is more likely to be an issue for families camping with teens or older kids.

It’s always best to waterproof a new tent before the first use to keep out heavy rains. While many of these tents claim they can be assembled in 60 seconds, that doesn’t include laying down a tarp, putting in tent stakes, securing guylines, or putting on a rain fly. For our testing, we allowed a 5-minute start-to-finish setup time, to be completed by one person, with all of the additional steps.

The main appeal of the Coleman Instant 6 is detailed in its name. This gives the fabric a lightweight but durable quality that can help to reduce UV radiation, as well as minimize abrasions from poking holes in the tent. Additionally, the Weathertec welded and reinforced floor allows for a lot of foot traffic. As always, investing in a footprint to stake your tent on will prolong its life. But with these instant shelters that are now flooding the market, that frustration is virtually eliminated. Boasting a set up time of under a minute, one person can easily have this model up and running in record time, even if they’ve never pitched a tent before.

This Ozark Trail tent has blackout paneling to block sunlight. On a typical camping trip, I might head off to bed at a reasonable hour. And despite its feathery weight, the Ayamaya Pop-Up Tent unfolds to provide a nice spacious interior with over 106 square feet of space. With each blast of wind, the tent would snap down, nearly flattening itself over our faces, only to pop back up and into shape with the next gust. So, if you arrive at your campsite during a downpour, you can be out of the rain and inside your shelter in a short amount of time.

In ten days I had a new 10 man instant tent that retailed for more than I paid for the 8 man. The one thing I can say, is Coleman will stand behind their products. The cabin tent style ensures you can stand in just about all the floor space. The quick set-up of this 8-person tent does not compromise your comfort factor. In my experience, Coleman makes one of the best pop up tents for camping.

A Signature Instant Tent With Rainfly, with its open ceiling mesh, will likely be the most comfortable Instant Tent in this region. In moderate to heavy vertical rain, campers can lay a light tarp over the exposed tent frame. The optional rainfly offers a second set of guy out points to replace the ones on the tent eaves that it covers. The pole frame may be difficult to repair, so campers should try to protect it from winds.

For one, because this is essentially a “wedge” shaped , the walls are fairly steep, so there’s not much extra shoulder room inside the shelter. Still, the Hooligan is one of the best-made tents in the Coleman lineup, and also one of the least expensive. Try it out, and if you love it, consider building it up with better components.

If it’s early morning and we have to put the instant tent away so we can get to the next campsite I just pick it up and shake off most of the early morning dew before folding it up. Most of the time we’ve been driving to places and camping out of a car, so using minimal space, and easy set up/take down were really important. In the end, I hope you will have a better understanding of what a pop up tent is exactly and what kind of camping the Coleman 2 person pop up tent is perfect for.

Drawbacks here are few and far between, but our biggest gripe with the Skycoleman instant tent is that it doesn’t deliver the level of wind resistance advertised. Coleman claims the Skydome is tested to withstand 35 mph winds, but several owners have reported poles snapping under milder conditions. We’ll also point out that although the Skydome is available in 2, 4, and even 6-person sizes, all models of the tent stick to a single door/single vestibule construction.

Here, 2 pieces of fabric are seamed and folded in on itself, and the second seam is added behind. If you are not familiar with this terminology, in general, this so-called plastic welding creates the best possible and the most durable seals which do not deteriorate or decay in time. So with such a technology used on the floor, you can be sure it should work fine. The tent is freestanding of course, so when you set it up, you can move it like a box, rotate as you wish, etc. In other words, you do not depend much on the surface, regardless if this is sand, concrete, grass, or rock; this tent will do just fine on any type. The Coleman 2-Person Pop-Up Tent is very popular among solo campers.
