Razor, the scooter company that probably brings back memories of kicking and coasting down the block to your friend’s house for a playdate, is expanding its line of adult electric scooters. The company launched Thursday a new seated electric scooter that is designed to carry cargo, or if you like, another passenger on the back. There is one little annoying thing about the motor though, which is that the scooter razor scooter has to be moving at around 2-3 mph or so in order for the thumb throttle on the handlebars to work. Surely Razor will say that’s a safety feature so that it’s hard for small kids to hop on and ride, or something to that effect. But it’s really because the motor is sensorless (hall sensors in brushless electric motors are needed to let e-bikes and e-scooters start with good power from a standstill).
It may have accumulated a significant amount of debris preventing the parts from moving. You will need a 5 mm (0.20 in) allen wrench to remove the steering column. Turn the screw in the clasp counterclockwise to release it. If it seems too complicated to do on your own, contact Razor or take the scooter to a repair shop. Pull the joint-release lever all the way open to free the steering column.
It can also prevent you from opening the scooter back up if it’s in the locked position. If you’re trying to fold a Razor Jr., this is the only lever you need to deal with. It’s on the back side of the steering column, directly in front of the footpad. As long as you have the scooter upside-down, gravity takes care of most of the folding.
