Introducing the Decathlon road bikes get to grips with the BTwin, Triban and Van Rysel ranges

The build is excellent, you get some really great components alongside some cheaper and non-series parts which don’t hamper the ride experience. For anyone looking to get into road cycling for the first time, or choosing to upgrade from a cheaper bike to something a bit more substantial, then I rate the Triban RC 520 Disc highly. The RC 520 is part of the Triban series of bikes which are strategically positioned between the entry-level B’Twin bikes and the more aggressive Van Rysel bikes. As such, the RC 520 is designed with a more endurance oriented geometry and a taller head tube.

We recommend that beginning cyclists also wear cycling shorts with a protective pad for added comfort. B’Twin Sport 700 X 32 hybrid tires. The tread has small studs for increased performance. I was considering either a stationary exercise bike, or a set of indoor rollers for my mountain bike. I was leaning towards the former because the latter would also require assembling a road-specific rear wheel set, something I didn’t have the time to figure out (T-2 days before quarantine). Plus decathlon bike I knew that I’d be too lazy to swap out the rear wheel each time between training and riding. And so I did my research and found a relatively inexpensive stationary exercise bike at the nearby Decathlon. What really makes the RC 520 stand out from the crowd is the professional level drivetrain.

Advertised as both Triban’s and Decathlon’s most comfortable bike, the RC500 models are the best steeds to really get going as a regular road rider. The bigger benefit of the name change, the brand says, was the creative freedom it offered to redesign the Triban bikes that have been the brand’s bread and butter bikes for a very long time. I live in central london and was apprehensive about cycling here. Took the plunge and bought this bike at the Wandsworth store. The team were great, they helped me with all the equipment, built the bike and attached the equipment on to it in store – they were amazing!

Additionally, you can also fit panniers to improve its functionality as a potential commuter or bikepacking rig. Aesthetically you wouldn’t know it was a budget option with its trendy olive green frame as well as black carbon forks paired with Hutchinson Overide 700×38 Tubeless Ready tan sidewall tyres. You can even swap to road tyres to easily double up as a road bike too. For example, cheap carbon is not going to offer a comfortable ride and will be a lot more susceptible to damage in comparison to an aluminum frame of the same price.
